PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. —The No. 22 nationally ranked Assumption University men's basketball team pulled away in the second half, as they recorded a 75-64 Northeast 10 Conference win at Pace University, Wednesday evening. 

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After Jayden James scored the first basket of the game for Pace, Assumption went on a 13-0 run over the next five minutes to go up 13-2. Zee McCown led the way with six points, while the Greyhounds' defense forced six turnovers. The two teams would trade the next few buckets before the under-12 media timeout, but Assumption would continue to lead by ten (19-9). Pace responded following the media timeout, with an 8-1 run to close the deficit to 20-17, but Tayeshawn Cunningham-Pemberton and Lenny Tangishaka hit back-to-back threes to extend their lead back to nine points (26-17). The Greyhounds continued to hit their shots throughout the first half, as they went on a 7-4 run over the next few minutes to give themselves their largest lead of the opening 20 minutes at 33-21 with 4:07 left in the first half. Pace would close out the first half on a 6-5 run and would head into the intermission with Assumption leading 38-27. 

In the second half, Assumption started fast, going on an 8-4 run to extend their lead to 15 points (46-31). Pace went on a 6-0 mini run to draw within 11 (48-37), but the Greyhounds responded with a 9-2 run to go up 18 (57-39) with 9:43 to go. The Setters would attempt to mount a comeback, as they would trim the deficit down to ten points (72-62) with 41 seconds remaining in regulation, but the Hounds would hold on for a 75-64 road win. 

BY THE NUMBERS:

• Tayeshawn Cunningham-Pemberton led all scorers with 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting, while adding seven rebounds, two assists, and one block. 
• Baril Mawo (13), Zee McCown (12), and Daouda Dembele (11) all poured in double-digit points. 
• Assumption won the rebounding battle 30-29, while also winning the fast break points (16-6) and the points off turnovers (18-8). 
• Assumption leads the all-time series 24-15.
