ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The No. 3 nationally ranked Assumption University field hockey team opened up Northeast-10 Conference action with a decisive 3-0 win over Molloy University Saturday afternoon at Cedar Creek Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds controlled the game from the opening stroke, as they outshot the Lions 5-0 in the first quarter but could not break through. Assumption ratcheted up the pressure as they continued their assault on the Molloy cage. The Blue and White would break through three minutes into the second, as
Caroline McSweeney scored off the feed from
Mia Salah.
The Hounds would carry a 1-0 lead into the intermission, but the lead would double early into the second half as Salah found
Daisy Stone, who netted her first collegiate goal.
Callie Beauparlant capped off the scoring for the Greyhounds as she opened the fourth quarter with her tally, which came off the assist from
Nova Rijks. Assumption could not extend their lead anymore and would walk away with a 3-0 road win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Paige Gillette did not record a save to pick up her second shutout of the year.
- With two assists today, Mia Salah is now tied for the lead in the NE10 with five assists.
- Assumption outshot Molloy 35-0 while having a 15-1 advantage in the penalty corners department.
- The Greyhounds are now 6-0 all-time against the Lions.
