BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Assumption University women's ice hockey team picked up their four-straight New England Women's Hockey Alliance contest as the Greyhounds defeated Stonehill College 2-1 Friday evening at the Bridgewater Ice Center.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Greyhounds came out on the attack, as they outshot the Skyhawks 20-4 in the opening frame, but the Stonehill netminder kept Assumption off the scoresheet as the game remained tied 0-0 after 20 minutes. Both teams would have to wait until the second period to get on the scoreboard, as
Heather Ajakie put the Hounds on the board at the 5:25 marker, as the freshman used a turnaround shot in the slot to beat the Stonehill netminder to the top glove side. Ten minutes later,
Alexa Hanrahan potted a goal for Assumption on a power play. The initial shot from
Justina Valentini at the point was saved, but Hanrahan was right on the doorstep to bury the insurance goal.
Stonehill would get on the board at 3:38 of the third period, as Kathryn Karo beat the Assumption netminder early in the frame. The Skyhawks would pull their goalie for the final 1:27 left in regulation, where the hosts would fire four shots, but
Jadyn Weiser and the Assumption defense would hold firm and pick up a 2-1 road win.
