WORCESTER, Mass.—The No. 1 seeded Assumption University field hockey thrashed No. 8 Franklin Pierce University 5-0 on Monday night in the opening round of the Northeast-10 Championship Playoff at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption's all-time leader in points,
Mia Salah, sparked the scoring five minutes in with a deflection goal initially shot by
Elle Murray.
Chloe Kaeller joined in the fun with an insurance goal assisted by
Caroline McSweeney. McSweeney had an excellent game on both sides of the ball, holding down her side of the field and creating a handful of scoring opportunities through midfield.
The Greyhounds were blanked in the second quarter but came out hot in the third. A minute into the third quarter, Salah scored her second of the night and team-leading tenth goal of the season.
Julia Carbone etched her name on the scorecard moments later with her eighth goal of the season.
Murray scored the final goal of the match. It was Assumption's only goal off a corner. McSweeney and
Callie Beauparlant each got an assist in setting up the set piece.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Assumption outshot Franklin Pierce 37-1, with 24 shots on goal compared to zero for the Ravens.
- The Greyhounds are on a 14-game winning streak heading into the semifinal, the longest in Division II.
- Salah now has ten goals and ten assists for 30 points on the season.
- Paige Gillette's 10th shutout of the season ties the program's single-season record with Kylie Gargulio in 2021
