WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University women's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match against Saint Anselm College on Tuesday evening, with the Hawks coming away with a 3-0 decision in Andrew Laska Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The two teams traded the early points in the first set, but Saint Anselm took the early advantage and would carry that for the entirety of the frame. Emma Adams and Hollyn Frano paced the Hawks in the frame with four kills, as the team hit .316 to win the first set 25-18.
Franco carried her momentum into the second set with authority, as the freshman recorded six of her game-high 14 kills in the middle period. The Greyhounds held the deficit within five points for most of the set, but with the score at 14-12 in favor of the guests, the Hawks went on an 11-2 run to take to the second set 25-14.
Assumption refused to go quietly in the third set, as they took their first lead of the match following a
Carly Goodhue kill, making it 9-8 Hounds. The two teams would continue to jockey for the advantage, but Saint Anselm would regain the lead at 19-18 and blocked the Assumption comeback to secure a 25-23 third-set win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Anna Dean led the way for the Greyhounds with ten kills, while Carly Goodhue added seven.
- Tatiana Calderin paced the Assumption offense with 18 assists, while Marissa Krawcyzk added eight.
- Alexis Distasio and Barbara Illig each had double-digit digs, with Distasio recording 15 and Illig with 10.
- Sophia Kane led the Greyhounds with three blocks, while Dean and Goodhue each had a rejection.
- The Hawks still leads the all-time series 35-19
