GARDEN CITY, NY – The Assumption University women's soccer team took on Adelphi University in Garden City on Saturday afternoon but could not get things going offensively, as they fell to the Panthers 5-0 in Northeast-10 Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Adelphi started on the front foot, with Micaella Romagno's shot being saved by Frida Larsson. Delaney Farinha got in the mix, as her shot was saved. However, Kayla Mushorn scored a beauty in the top left corner to put the Panthers up 1-0. Delaney Farinha got in the mix, as her shot was saved. Assumption put together a couple of shot attempts and good moves of possession but could not find the back of the net. Adelphi fired three shots in a row in successive minutes towards the end of the first half, but Larsson made the saves. The Panthers held a 1-0 lead at halftime.
A miscommunication in defense from the Hounds allowed Adelphi to double their lead, with Madison Apicella scoring to make it 2-0. Maya Demello fired a shot, but Krista Aliscio saved it. Before the Hounds could catch their breath, the Panthers put two more behind Larsson in less than a minute. Sophia Cataldo got on the end of a low-driven cross, and less than a minute later, Kayleigh Goodrich capitalized on a mistake and fired a high shot in the top right corner. Adelphi added another from Carly Issing to make it 5-0, and the Hounds could not get on the board. Adelphi defeated Assumption at home with a final score of 5-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Panthers had 19 shots compared to five from the Hounds, with 14 of them going on goal for the home side and three for the visitors
