WORCESTER, Mass. - The Assumption University women's ice hockey team closed out the fall semester on a high note, as the Greyhounds shutout Franklin Pierce University, 4-0, in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption started fast, as the Greyhounds scored two goals in the opening 20 minutes.
Alexa Hanrahan netted a power play score at the 6:26 marker of the first, while Sheridan Terrazano found the back of the net at 7:32. Assumption closed out the first period leading 2-0, but the shots were tied at 15-15.
In the second period, Franklin Pierce was the aggressor, as they outshot the hosts 15-8 in the frame, but when the Greyhounds were shorthanded,
Kayla McGaffigan stole the loose puck in the offensive zone and scored at the 12:28 marker. The Raven's offensive momentum was carried into the third period, as they continued to outshoot the hosts (13-9).
Kayla McGaffigan added another tally to her scoreline with her second goal of the game at 13:58.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Jadyn Weiser recorded her first collegiate shutout with a 43-save performance.
- Franklin Pierce outshot Assumption 43-32 while winning 38-of-62 faceoffs.
- The Greyhounds went 1-for-6 on the powerplay, while the Ravens were 0-for-6.
- The all-time series now sits at 1-1-0.
