Women's Ice Hockey tripped up at Franklin Pierce

WINCHENDON, Mass. - The Assumption University women's ice hockey team fell to Franklin Pierce University 4-0 in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action Friday afternoon. 

THE BASICS

Score: Franklin Pierce University 4, Assumption University 0

Records: Greyhounds (4-13-1, 4-7-1 NEWHA), Ravens (7-9-0, 7-7-0 NEWHA)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Franklin Pierce opened the game with control, as they outshot Assumption 17-8 in the opening 20 minutes. The Ravens eventually broke through at the 13:09 marker, as Anna Caumo started the scoring. Claire Casey doubled the host's advantage three minutes later with her fifth tally of the year. 

Assumption would have a scoring chance in the second period when Ella Rago's shot rang off the pipe. Less than a minute later, the Ravens would push their advantage to three goals following Jenna Ruiz's marker on the power play. Through 40 minutes, Franklin Pierce outshot Assumption 30-19 while winning 24 of 35 faceoffs. 

In the third period, the Ravens added another power play tally, as Mikayla Kelley found the back of the net, pushing the final score to 4-0. 

 INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Carissa Mudrak tallied 41 saves in the crease for the Greyhounds. 
  • Franklin Pierce outshot Assumption 45-25, winning 38 of 57 faceoffs. 
  • The Ravens' went 2-for-4 on the power play, while the Greyhounds were scoreless on four attempts. 
  • Franklin Pierce now leads the all-time series 1-0-0.
