HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Junior Ania Spina (Wallingford, Conn. / Mark T. Sheehan) put the Hounds on the board in the 36th minute with her second goal of the season, when freshman Johnna Caporuscio (Wayne, N.J. / Wayne Hills) sent a cross in that found Spina right outside of the six yard box, who took a touch onto her left foot and buried it into the far corner.
- Sophomore Alexis Stowell (Franklin, Mass. / Franklin) kept the Hounds clean sheet intact, when Jocylyn Deome fired a shot that beat freshman keeper Katie Hammer (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields), but the sophomore tracked the ball before it entered the goal and cleared it off of the goal-line.
- Assumption doubled its lead in the 82nd minute as junior Kallie Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) received a pass from classmate Jessica FitzGerald (Uxbridge, Mass. / Uxbridge) with her back to goal on top of the box. Villemaire settled the pass, turned and placed the ball just over the keepers fingertips to make the score 2-0.
BEHIND THE NUMBERS:
- Hammer recorded her first career shutout in her second collegiate start, making five saves in 90 minutes of action.
- Spina ties her career high of two goals after scoring the game winning goal this afternoon. The junior is now second on the team with 10 points on two goals and six assists.
