The Lead: Similar to the first time the Hounds and Hawks played, it was a low scoring affair as the seventh-ranked Hawks were able to defeat the Hounds 1-0 in a Northeast-10 conference match up on Tuesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The two teams played a scoreless first half with the Hounds out-shooting the Hawks 4-3.
- In the 46th minute, the Hawks converted on a corner when Allia Connolly scored off a drive from the top of the circle with an assit from Rose Mooney.
- The Hounds' offense was led by Allison Sheahan (Higganum,Conn./ Haddam-Killingworth) who had four shots total, two of which were back to back late in the second half to attempt to tie the score.
- Meghan Sullivan (Worcester, Mass./ Notre Dame Academy) also had two back to back shots early in the first half but Hawk goalkeeper Katherine Sears blocked all attempts.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Hound goaltender sophomore Sarah Bodzinski (Southwick, Mass./ Southwick Tolland) had two saves in the loss and Sears made five saves to earn the win.
- Saint Anselm offense had eight shots and eight penalty corners while Assumption tallied seven shots and five penalty corners.
