- The Lead: On a rainy Tuesday night in Northeast-10 Conference play, the Assumption College field hockey team defeated No. 8 ranked Saint Anselm by a 1-0 final at the Multi-Sport Stadium. The win was the third straight for the Hounds over a nationally-ranked opponent as the team is also now a perfect 4-0 in league play.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Tonight's game marks the third nationally-ranked opponent for the Hounds in the last four games. With tonight's victory, Assumption is now 3-1 in those games.

- Sophomore Bridget Boyle (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Regional) made eight saves in the shutout win, while Katherine Sears had five stops in tonight's road loss.

- Saint Anselm held a slight 13-12 advantage in total shots, while Assumption had the edge in penalty corners at 11-6 (including 8-3 in the second half).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Assumption sophomore Amanda Frank (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) tallied her second goal of the season with 18:47 left in the first half as she blasted in a shot from just inside the circle for the 1-0 lead. The play came off a penalty corner, with the assist going to senior Allison Juneau (Auburn, Mass./Auburn).

- The teams each had chances, with Saint Anselm's best one coming with 24:59 left in the game as Meagan Halligan had a penalty stroke opportunity. Assumption's Boyle came up with the stop though as she went to her right and kept the Hawks off the board.

UP NEXT:

- The Hounds are back in action on Thursday, October 1st as the team travels to American International for a non-conference game beginning at 7 p.m. in Springfield, Mass.
