HOW IT HAPPENED:
-The Hounds nearly got out to a 1-0 lead on a near miss from junior Nick Fenuccio (Keene, N.H. / Keene) on the first play just seconds into the game, but 4:59 into the first period it was SNHU that claimed the advantage on a goal from Kyle Valliere.
-The Penmen increased their lead in the 15th minute when Sean McTiernan capitalized on a power play with a left-side shot from the blue line.
-The Hounds reduced the deficit to one when Farrell snuck a quick shot into the bottom left corner of the net. Farrell waited on the left side as junior Ryan Gomez (Wayne, N.J. / Wayne Valley) and freshman Matt Damelio (Rochester, N.Y. / Northwood) attempted to find the back of the net. Farrell collected the rebound and buried the puck to come within one, 2-1 SNHU.
-The Penmen fired two straight in the second period, the first just 1:21 into the frame, for a 4-1 advantage until Gomez blasted a shot from the left side, assisted by seniors Alex Erban (Attleboro, Mass. / Mount Saint Charles) and Brandon Bete (Greenfield, Mass. / Northfield Mount Hermon) to make it 4-2.
-Assumption's Farrell notched his second goal of the game 13 minutes into the third period to once again bring the score within one, 4-3, before two goals within 33 seconds by the Penmen clinched the victory for SNHU.
