SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT.—The Assumption University men's ice hockey team scored five goals for their fifth-straight win, as the Hounds topped Saint Michael's College, 5-2 in Northeast 10 Conference action, Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Jonathan Surrette continued his hot start to begin the year, as he opened the scoring with his sixth goal of the year halfway through the first period, with
Jake DiNapoli and
Nick Demio picking up helpers on the score. The Greyhounds would double their lead at the midway point of the middle frame, as
Shane McElhaney struck on the power play, before
Brett Cunningham pushed the Hounds' lead to 3-0 four minutes later.
Saint Michael's got on the board with 3:31 left in the second, before drawing within one with a shorthanded goal with 19 seconds left in the stanza. Demio regained a two-goal lead for Assumption, as he scored his first collegiate goal, 7:13 into the third period. Surrette capped off the game with a full-ice empty-net goal with 1:20 left in regulation.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Callum Welch logged 32 saves in the win.
- Assumption outshot Saint Michael's 44-39, while also winning 32-of-62 faceoffs.
- The Greyhounds were a perfect 1-for-1 on the power play, while the Purple Knights were scoreless on one power play.
