Box Score Manchester, N.H. (September 29) -- On Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference play, the Assumption College field hockey team dropped a high-scoring 4-3 final at Saint Anselm College as the Hounds lost for just the second time in their last seven games.
Assumption got on the board quickly as freshman Sarah Frahm (Salem, N.H./Salem) notched her fourth goal of the season, off a team-high fourth assist from fellow freshman Kiley Colucci (Gloucester, R.I./St. Mary Academy) just 2:13 into the game. Elizabeth Sears answered for the Hawks just 1:39 later as she scored her fourth of the season to tie the game at 1-1. Assumption regained the lead with less than two minutes remaining in the first half as Austen Theroux (Goffstown, N.H./Goffstown) converted a pass from sophomore Paige Anderson (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) for the 2-1 halftime advantage.
Anderson added a goal of her own just 4:35 into the second half, her eighth of the season, and the Hounds appeared to be in control at 3-1. Saint Anselm's Colleen Sears scored just over five minutes later to close within one, followed by two goals in 1:47 by Taylor Coons to complete the comeback and take their first lead of the game. The Hounds were unable to beat Saint Anselm goalie Megan Sullivan over the remaining 18 minutes though as Assumption dropped the 4-3 final.
Sophomore goalie Lauren Neilan (Mendon, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) made seven saves in the loss, while Sullivan turned aside six shots for the win.
Assumption falls to 6-6 overall and 4-2 in the Northeast-10, while Saint Anselm now sits at 4-7 overall and 2-2 in the league. The Hounds are back in action on Sunday afternoon as the team travels to Mercy for a non-conference game beginning at 1 p.m.
