Box Score Worcester, Mass. (September 30) -- On Friday night in Northeast-10 Conference action, the Assumption field hockey team dropped a 3-0 final to visiting Saint Anselm at the Multi-Sport Stadium. The victory gives the Hawks a sweep of the regular-season series.
Saint Anselm junior Kristina Katsikis tallied her team-best 10th goal of the season to give the Hawks the 1-0 lead at the 8:20 mark. The goal gives Katsikis a single-season school record 22 points thru just 10 games in 2011. Saint Anselm added a second goal at 22:51 as Sara Sterling took the pass from Katsikis for the 2-0 edge.
Nicole Foley gave the Hawks a 3-0 lead with 17:14 left in the second half as she put in a rebound just inside the right post for her first goal of the season.
Sophomore Heather Philbrick (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk) turned aside 10 shots in the loss for the Hounds, while junior Megan Sullivan made three saves in the victory.
With the loss, the Hounds fall to 1-9 overall and 1-5 in Northeast-10 play, while Saint Anselm is now 3-7 overall and 1-3 the league. Assumption is back in action on Saturday, October 8th as the Hounds travel to Stonehill for a Noon start.
