HAMBURG, Pa.— For the first time since April 21
, 2024, the Assumption University baseball team has swept the opposition, as the Greyhounds took two games against Kutztown University, in non-conference action, Sunday afternoon.
THE BASICS

Game Two Score: Assumption University 11, Kutztown University 10
Records: Greyhounds (4-6, 0-0 NE10), Golden Bears (4-5, 0-0 PSAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One Score: Assumption University 9, Kutztown University 0
Assumption stated fast, as they plated three runs in the top of the first inning, as
Tyler Cattoggio drew a bases-loaded walk, before
Nolan Bell plated a pair with a single up the middle.
Nick Paharik pushed the lead to 4-0 following a double to right center field, and Cattoggio scored on a fielder's choice in the third.
The Greyhounds increased their lead to 6-0 after
Eric Giarnese scored on a throwing error, before the visitors added three runs in the fifth to walk away with a 9-0 final score.
Cole Constantine picked up the win, as he had five strikeouts over 4.0 innings of action, while allowing just one hit.
Ryan Cloutier picked up the save after pitching 3.0 innings in relief, where he had three strikeouts.
Game Two Score: Assumption University 10, Kutztown University 10
For the second-straight game, Assumption was the first team to strike, as they plated six runs in the top of the first inning.
Will Panza scored on a fielder's choice before
Tyler Simmons drove in
Tony Salvatelli.
Will Novak capped off the inning with a grand slam to left center field, making it 6-0. The Greyhounds added to their lead in the top of the second, as
Eric Giarnese plated Salvatelli with a single down the left field line.
Kutztown got on the board in the bottom of the third inning, as they scratched across two runs. Simmons regained a six-run advantage for the Blue and White with an RBI single up the middle before the Golden Bears made it 8-5 with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
In the top of the sixth, Panza scored on a wild pitch before Novak had a two-RBI single up the middle, making it 11-5 heading into the bottom of the frame. The hosts would not go away quietly, as they would score two runs in the bottom of the sixth and three more in the seventh to get within one (11-10). Kutztown would get the winning run on base, but
Luke Barry would come on and induce a 3-1 groundout to finish the game.
