HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One Score: University of Tampa 3, Assumption University 0
After the game started two scoreless innings. Tampa got on the board in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI single to centerfield by Kinnah Kreidler.
Assumption threatened in the top of the fourth, as
Kaitlyn Cahill led off the frame with a single up the middle before stealing second. She would advance to third base on a sacrifice bunt, but the Spartans' pitching staff would get back-to-back strikeouts to get out of the jam.
The hosts would push their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth, as they plated two runs on three hits. The Greyhounds would not reach base for the remainder of the game and would fall 3-0 in game one.
Game Two Score: University of Tampa 3, Assumption University 1
In game two, Assumption was the first team to score, as Cahill drove in
Kaylee Lacomb with an infield single to the shortstop. The Greyhounds would threaten later in the inning, as they would get runners on second and third with just one out, but a pick off and a pop out would end the threat.
Kaelin Waldron kept the reigning national championship runner-ups off the scoreboard until the bottom of the sixth inning, where the Spartans would plate three runs in the frame. Assumption got a runner on in the top of the seventh, but they would eventually fall 3-1.
