SPARKILL, N.Y.—The Assumption University softball team earned a Sunday split of St. Thomas Aquinas, as the Greyhounds dropped the first game 8-0, before bouncing back with a 7-0 win in the nightcap of the non-conference matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One Score: St. Thomas Aquinas College 8, Assumption University 0 – 6 Innings
The game started as a pitcher's duel, as neither side could get on the scoreboard. The Spartans would get on the board in the bottom of the fourth, as Sofia Marella had a two-RBI double to right field, before Trinadey Santiago had a two-run home run to left center field, making it 4-0.
After adding an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth, the hosts would add three more runs in the sixth, making the final score 8-0 in six innings.
Game Two Score: Assumption University 7, St. Thomas Aquinas College 0
Assumption flipped the script in the second game, as they scored in the top of the first inning with
Kaitlyn Cahill scoring on a
Kaylee Lacomb sacrifice fly to right field. In the second inning, Mia Biacamano scored on a double steal and a throwing error by the shortstop.
The Greyhounds broke the game open in the top of the seventh, as they plated five runs in the frame with
Bella Mara doubling home
Emma Manzo, while two runs scored on a
Jaiden Tonucci infield single. Tonucci crossed the plate on a throwing error on the STAC catcher, while
Nadia Zach scored on an
Emma Bloom single up the middle.
