WORCESTER, MASS.— Thomas McGaffigan scored the game-winner at 4:28 of overtime, lifting the Assumption University men's ice hockey team past Post University, 2-1 in the Northeast 10 Conference Semifinals, Saturday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a scoreless first period, where Assumption outshot Post 25-21, the Greyhounds were the first team to strike as
Leo Piandes opened the scoring at 6:28.
Jonathan Surrette intercepted a breakout pass by the Eagles' defense, before setting up Piandes with a cross ice pass, beating the visiting netminder to the near post.
Post would tie the game late in the third period, as Eoin Reager scored while on the power play with 7:26 left in regulation. The game would head to overtime, where
Luke Evers won a board battle in the offensive zone before finding
Thomas McGaffigan in the slot, and he buried the game-winner at 4:28 of the extra frame.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Michael Salvatore recorded 40 saves in the win, lowering his goals against average to 1.60 and increasing his save percentage to .956.
- Assumption outshot Post 52-41, while the Eagles won 42-of-77 faceoffs.
- The visitors went 1-for-2 on the power play, while the Greyhounds were scoreless on four attempts.
