WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University men's lacrosse team used a strong first quarter to run away with a 13-5 non-conference win over Roberts Wesleyan University in non-conference action, Sunday afternoon at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After Roberts Wesleyan scored the opening goal at the 13:19 marker of the first quarter, it was all Assumption, as the Greyhounds rattled off nine-straight goals in the first to go up 9-1. Six different players scored for the Hounds, with
Patrik McGrath leading the way with three goals and three assists. The Redhawks started the second quarter with back-to-back tallies, but
Boomer Staunton stopped the run with his second of the game at the 10:52 marker. After Colin Duncan scored for the visitors, McGrath capped off the first half with another tally, making it 11-4 at the break.
The Greyhounds were the only team to strike in the third quarter, as
Patrick Johnston and Staunton found the back of the cage, extending the Blue and White advantage to 13-4. In the fourth quarter, there was only one score, as Duncan stuck once again for the opposition, making the final score 13-5.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Shane Corcoran recorded 17 saves in the win.
- Patrik McGrath led all scorers with four goals and seven points.
- Assumption outshot Roberts Wesleyan 35-22, while the Greyhounds were nearly perfect at the faceoff dot, winning 16-of-19
