BOSTON, Mass. - In what has truly been a very exciting season across DII/III college hockey, Gridiron Club of New England president Tim Whelan, Jr announced today that 36 players are semifinalists for the Silver Anniversary and 25
th Joe Concannon Award, presented annually to the best American-born NCAA Division II/III hockey player in New England.
The Joe Concannon Award was established in 2001, shortly after the passing of the longtime writer for
The Boston Globe, who had a great passion for college hockey and always strongly advocated amateur athletics.

Assumption University men's ice hockey (16-7-2, 10-2-2 NE10) is represented by the 2024 Northeast 10 Conference Rookie of the Year,
Jonathan Surrette, and 2025 NE10 All-Rookie Team honoree,
Shane McElhaney.
Surrette has been one of the best players in college hockey this season, leading all divisions in goals (26) and points (47) while posting a +22 plus/minus. McElhaney has been one of the top defensemen in the Northeast 10 Conference, as he leads all blueliners with eight goals, 18 assists, 26 points, 39 blocked shots, and a +12 plus/minus.
They are joined by fellow Northeast 10 Conference (NE10) student-athletes: Cam Collins (Saint Anselm), Mario Paganini (Franklin Pierce), and Evan Plunkett (Saint Michael's)
The Greyhounds are back in action on Friday, February 6
th (7:40 pm) and Saturday, February 7
th (2:40 pm), as they take on Southern New Hampshire University in New Hampshire.
