WINTER PARK, Fla.— The Assumption University baseball team dropped a pair of close games at Rollins College, as they fell in game one 5-3 before dropping a 6-2 decision, Saturday afternoon in non-conference action

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One Score: Rollins College 5, Assumption University 3
Rollins was the first team to score, as they plated one run in the bottom of the first inning. The game would remain 1-0 until the bottom of the fifth, as the Tars plated an insurance run on a double play. The hosts pushed their lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the seventh with three runs in the frame.
Assumption got on the board at the top of the eighth, as
Eric Giarnese hit a two-run pinch-hit home run to left-center field.
Christopher Manzo trimmed the deficit down to one run, two runs, with an RBI single in the top of the ninth, but that would be all that they could get and would fall, 5-3.
Michael Crowley was handed the loss despite allowing just two earned runs in 5.0 innings, while striking out six.
Game Two Score: Rollins College 6, Assumption University 2
Assumption was the first team to get on the board in game two, as
Nolan Bell hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the second inning. Rollins tied the game in the bottom of the frame before scoring three runs in the bottom of the third to go up 4-1. The Greyhounds cut the deficit down to 4-2 with an
Eric Giarnese single up the middle, scoring
Michael Caron in the top of the fourth. The Tars added two runs in the bottom of the fifth to pull away for a 6-2 final score.
