WORCESTER, Mass.— Jonathan Surrette scored one goal and added an assist, as he set a new Northeast 10 Conference record for points in a season (53), as the Assumption University men's ice hockey team recorded a 4-0 win over Saint Anselm College on Friday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption scored early on, as
Jake DiNapoli lit the lamp at the 3:13 marker of the opening period. Saint Anselm had an excellent scoring opportunity late in the first, as they had a lengthy 5-on-3 advantage, but the Blue and White defense stood strong.
The Greyhounds' lead would double just past the halfway mark of the second period, as
Leo Piandes scored on the power play.
Shane McElhaney made it 3-0 for the Hounds, as he scored on another power play 1:35 later.
The game would head to the third period with Assumption leading 3-0, but with 4:19 left in regulation,
Jake Russell forced a turnover in the neutral zone before
Jonathan Surrette picked up the puck and wristed a shot into the top corner of the cage, making it 4-0. The Greyhounds would finish off the game and skated away with a 4-0 final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Michael Salvatore logged 34 saves in the shutout win.
- Assumption outshot Saint Anselm 41-34, while the Hawks won 44-of-70 faceoffs.
- The Greyhounds were 2-for-5 on the power play, while holding Saint Anselm scoreless on seven man-advantages.
- With two points tonight, Surrette has now logged 53 points this season, surpassing Josh Ralph (Saint Michael's – 1999-00) and Rob Pascale (Stonehill – 2002-23) for the most points in a single season in Northeast 10 Conference history (dating back to the 1999-00 campaign.
- With the win, the Greyhounds clinched the top spot in the NE10 playoffs, for the second time in three seasons.
- Saint Anselm still leads the all-time series 39-19-4
