BRIDGEWATER, Mass.— The Assumption University women's ice hockey team closed out January with a 4-2 loss to Stonehill College in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action, Saturday afternoon.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption was the first team to get on the board, as
Sara Field scored her first collegiate goal at 3:18 of the first period. Stonehill answered four minutes later, as Summer Combe found the equalizer. The Skyhawks closed out the first period strong, as they got two goals in the final minute to take a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes.
After a scoreless second period, where Stonehill outshot Assumption 10-8, the hosts would add a power play goal early in the third to go up 4-1.
Avalyn Mikkelson found the back of the net for the Greyhounds to cut the deficit to just two with 4:54 left in regulation. Despite pulling the goaltender, the Hounds could not score again and would fall 4-2.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Jadyn Weiser logged 27 saves in the loss.
- Stonehill outshot Assumption 31-27, while also winning 31-of-49 faceoffs.
- Assumption was held scoreless on the power play, while the Skyhawks went 1-for-2.
- The power play goal by the hosts, snapped a stretch of 17-straight power plays killed, with the last one coming in a 4-2 win against Sacred Heart University on December 6, 2025.
- Stonehill still leads the all-time series 8-5-1.
