NEW HAVEN, Conn.– Elizabeth Schoeneberger scored in the 70
th minute, as the Assumption University women's soccer team defeated Southern Connecticut State University, 1-0 in the Northeast 10 Conference opener, Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first half, where Southern Connecticut outshot Assumption 11-6. The Greyhounds would get on the board in the 70
th minute, as
Elizabeth Schoeneberger scored her fourth goal of her freshman campaign. The Manchester, Connecticut native used a cut-back move right inside the 18-meter box, before driving the ball into the far lower corner to put the Hounds up 1-0.
The Owls had an aggressive final 20 minutes as they had two shots and four corner kicks, but the Assumption defense held strong to secure the shutout.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Kaylin Hebert recorded four saves to pick up her second win and her second shutout of the year.
- Elizabeth Schoeneberger scored her fourth goal of the year, while she is now tied in the Northeast 10 Conference with two game-winning goals.
- Assumption outshot Southern Connecticut 21-16, while the hosts had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-3.
- This was the Greyhounds' first win in New Haven since they won 3-2 in 2016.
