WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University women's lacrosse team rallied but came up short, as the Greyhounds fell to Saint Anselm College 10-9 in Northeast-10 Conference action Wednesday evening at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Anselm took control of the game early, as they outscored Assumption 4-0 in the opening quarter and 7-2 through 30 minutes, while the only two goals for the Greyhounds came from the sticks of
Molly Weiand and
Annika Pyy. The Hounds' offense came alive in the third quarter, as they saw three goals from
Katelynn Johnston and another from Weiand, cutting the deficit to just three goals (9-6) entering the final quarter of regulation.
In the fourth quarter, Weiand struck for an early tally, but Saint Anselm responded to regain a three-score edge with 5:21 to go.
Mallory Bartlett and
Kyle Johnston found ways to score, but the Hawks would possess the draw control following the latter Assumption tally and would run out the clock to hold on for a one-goal final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Skylar Troyan stopped a season-high 15 saves in the crease for the Greyhounds.
- Molly Weiand and Katelynn Johnston each tallied three goals.
- Assumption outshot Saint Anselm College 32-30, while the Hawks won 15-of-22 draw controls.
- In the fourth quarter of the last two games for the Greyhounds, the Blue and White have outscored their opposition 12-4.
- Saint Anselm now leads the all-time series 17-10.
