MANCHESTER, N.H.— The Assumption University women's ice hockey team comeback came up just short, as the Greyhounds fell to Saint Anselm College 4-3 in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action Saturday afternoon.
THE BASICS:

Records: Greyhounds (7-20-3, 7-15-2 NEWHA), Hawks (10-15-4, 10-10-4 NEWHA)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After being shutout last night, Saint Anselm got on the board early, as Kismet Dogan scored 58 seconds into the contest. Eight minutes later, Lucy DeCoteau doubled the Hawks' lead with a back door tap in goal. Assumption got on the board with just under five minutes remain in the first period,as
Ava McGaffigan struck on the power play, with
Kayla McGaffigan and
Heather Ajakie recording helpers on the play.
The Hawks would open up the second with a power play goal by Gracee Donovan, to regain a two-goal advantage at 3:24. The game would head into the third period with Saint Anselm maintaining a two-goal advantage (3-1), but at the 4:40 mark
Kiersten Browning got the Greyhounds back within one. Three minutes later,
Teagan Vaughan tied the game for Assumption, as the Hounds connected on their second power play tally of the contest. Saint Anselm broke the tie with 6:21 remaining in regulation when Tyra Turner scored on a 2-on-1 with Brooklyn Schneiderhan.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Carissa Mudrak recorded 35 saves between the pipes for the Greyhounds.
- Assumption outshot Saint Anselm 51-39, while the Hawks on 51-of-81 faceoffs.
- The Hounds went 2-of-5 on the powerplay, while the hosts were 1-of-3.
- Saint Anselm still leads the all-time series 4-3-1, with Assumption winning the last two contests.
