FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Assumption University women's ice hockey team surrendered a goal in the first minute and the final minute of their contest against Sacred Heart University and dropped the 2-0 New England Women's Hockey Alliance decision Saturday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Sami Bowlby started the scoring in the opening minute for Sacred Heart, as the junior scored the game's first goal 53 seconds into the contest. Assumption controlled the rest of the frame, as they outshot the opposition 12-6.
After a scoreless second period, where the Pioneers outshot the Greyhounds 14-10, Assumption flipped the script and outshot Sacred Heart 14-10 in the third. The Hounds would have two power plays in the third period but could not convert. The Pioneers would tack on an empty net goal in the final ten seconds and come away with a 2-0 final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Carissa Mudrak recorded 28 saves in the crease for the Greyhounds.
- Assumption outshot Sacred Heart 36-30, while the Pioneers won 35-of-64 faceoffs.
- Neither team converted on the powerplay, as the Hounds were 0-for-4, while the Pios were scoreless on their only attempt.
- Sacred Heart now leads the all-time series 5-3-0.
