WORCESTER, Mass. - The Assumption University women's ice hockey team closed out their fall semester with a 4-2 win over Sacred Heart University, 4-2 in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action, Saturday evening.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption was the first team to score, as Caroline Lilly scored on the power play, flipping in a low-angled shot at 2:52 of the first period. Sacred Heart would tie the game at 10:21 of the middle stanza, before
Rachel Agerter regained the lead for the Greyhounds at 17:22, while on the power play, making it 2-1.
Mary McKiernan extended the Blue and White lead with her tally at 2:59 of the third period.
Alaina Whitesell pushed the lead to 4-1 before the Pioneers cut the three-goal deficit to two, following a power play goal by Sami Bowlby. Sacred Heart pulled their goalie with 3:20 left in regulation, but they were unable to close the gap, and Assumption would come away with a 4-2 final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Jadyn Weiser logged 30 saves in the win
- Justina Valentini tied a program record with three assists in the win.
- Sacred Heart outshot Assumption 32-27, while the Greyhounds won 38-of-59 faceoffs.
- Both teams scored on the power play, as Assumption was 2-of-6, while Sacred Heart was 1-of-3.
- Sacred Heart now leads the all-time series 7-4-1
