PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. —The Assumption University women's basketball team had three players record double-digit points and had solid defense, as the Greyhounds took down Pace University 54-40 in Northeast 10 Conference action, Wednesday evening.
THE BASICS:

Records: Greyhounds (5-1, 1-1 NE10) | Setters (4-3, 1-1 NE10)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Both offenses started slowly, but Assumption held a slight edge, leading 6-2 at the halfway point of the first quarter. After a pair of free throws by Pace, the Greyhounds scored four of the final six points of the frame to take an 11-6 lead into the second. In the second, Pace closed the margin to 14-11 following a three-pointer by Ciera Cevallos with 6:02 to go, but
Madison Handrahan and
Emily Collins combined to go on an 11-0 run to bring the Hounds' advantage to 25-11. The Setters got back-to-back baskets, closing the gap to 25-16 at the half.
Coming out of the intermission, the hosts would close the gap to just six points (30-24) following an 8-5 run over the opening 4:05 of the third. The margin would hover around 3-4 points over the next few minutes, but
Teagan Curran, Collins, and Handrahan would power a 7-1 run to extend their lead to ten points (39-29). In the fourth quarter, the Greyhounds drained the clock and limited the Setters' chances to walk away with a 54-40 road win.
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Teagan Curran had a game-high 16 points, while Emily Collins (13) and Madison Handrahan (11) also poured in double-digit points.
- Assumption outrebounded Pace 38-23, while also turning 12 offensive rebounds into 11 points, while the hosts had just two offensive boards for two points.
- The Greyhounds' defense limited the Setters to just 14 baskets
- Assumption has now tied the all-time series 18-18.
