WORCESTER, Mass.– The Assumption University volleyball team came out strong, but would eventually fade against Saint Anselm College, as the Greyhounds dropped a 3-1 non-conference match, Tuesday evening inside Andrew Laska Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The opening match was tightly contested, as the two teams traded points. With Saint Anselm on the brink of taking the first set, Assumption got four-straight points, including a clinching ace by
Marisa Billone, to win the first set 26-24. In the second frame, the Hawks maintained a slight edge for much of the set, but with the visitors leading 16-14, they would go on a 9-2 run to capture the frame 25-16.
In the third set, the Greyhounds had an early advantage, sprinting out to a 5-1 lead. Following a Saint Anselm College timeout, the Hawks soared past the Hounds to take the lead. The two teams trade points in the middle portion of the set, but with Saint Anselm leading 20-19, the guests capped off the frame on a 5-1 run to take the set 25-20. The Manchester, New Hampshire squad's momentum took over in the fourth set. With the Hawks leading 11-10, Saint Anselm went on a 14-5 run to take the match, following a 25-15 fourth-set win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grace Presswood recorded her fourth double-double of the season, as she logged 10 kills and 20 digs. Kaitlyn Montgomery tied Presswood for a team-high ten kills, while adding 3.0 blocks.
- Marissa Krawcyzk paced the offense with 21 assists, while Tatiana Calderin tied a career-high four aces.
- Saint Anselm now leads the all-time series 38-20.
