No. 24 Women's Lacrosse's fast start is too much to overcome for No. 21 Saint Anselm, 16-6

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The No. 24 Assumption University women's lacrosse team started fast, as they raced out to a 6-1 first quarter and never looked back. The Greyhounds picked up a 16-6 win at No. 21 Saint Anselm College Tuesday in Northeast-10 Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption was the first team to strike, as Olivia Catanzarite found the back of the net at 10:47 of the first quarter. Saint Anselm answered with a goal 27 seconds later to tie the game, but the Greyhounds exploded for five goals over the remainder of the first quarter to go up 6-1 after 15 minutes. 
 
The Hawks got the first goal of the second, but Catanzarite was joined by Katelynn Johnston and Mallory Bartlett, who found the back of the net, extending the lead to 9-2. Saint Anselm halted the run with Isabella Stuzynski scoring on a free position, but Kyle Johnston responded with a goal, sending the Hounds into the break up 10-3. 
 
Coming out of the intermission, Assumption came out on the attack, as they potted four-straight goals to go up 14-3. Saint Anselm got back-to-back tallies to make it 14-5, but Kyle Johnston struck again as she pushed the Blue and White advantage back to ten goals. 
 
In the fourth quarter, Kendra Sabotka scored for the Hawks, and Kyle Johnston struck for the Greyhounds, as Assumption won 16-6. 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Skylar Troyan recorded five saves to earn the win for the Greyhounds. 
  • Kyle Johnston had a game-high four goals, while her four points tie her sister Katelynn (3 goals, one assist)
  • Assumption outshot Saint Anselm 32-18, while the Greyhounds won 17-of-24 draw controls.
  • This was the Blue and White's fifth game against a nationally-ranked opponent, and they are 2-3 in those games. 
  • Saint Anselm now leads the all-time series 16-10.
