WORCESTER, Mass. - In a non-conference match on Thursday night, Assumption University volleyball notched another win on their home court, beating Franklin Pierce University in straight sets. The Greyhounds delivered their best serving performance of the season, tallying 18 aces in Thursday's victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first set began as a stalemate; just a single point separated the two teams through the first 19 rallies. Assumption was the first team to control a lead, pulling away thanks to three consecutive aces from
Tatiana Calderin. Holding firm the rest of the way, the Hounds took the opening set 25-19.
Assumption went on to win the second set by the same 25-19 score as the first. Freshman
Kaitlyn Montgomery continues to put together impressive numbers at the net-front this season. She led the match with three blocks and eight kills. Montgomery and
Carly Goodhue each contributed a match-leading 11.5 points for the Blue and White.
The story of the third set was all aces. Assumption landed eight aces in the final set to pave the way to victory. Goodhue and
Barbara Illig each tied with five aces, while Calderin had four to her name.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Assumption served up a season-high 18 aces, beating the previous high of 12 aces against Molloy two weeks ago.
- The Greyhounds made just 12 total errors, a three-way tie for the lowest total this season.
- Freshman Ava Fernandez picked up the first ace of her college career,
- Assumption had the edge in hitting percentage, hitting .247 compared to .202 from Franklin Pierce
- The Ravens lead the all-time series 29-15.
