WORCESTER, Mass. - The Assumption University women's soccer team battled through a close contest but ultimately fell to No. 5 Adelphi University 3-1 at Normand R. Marois '57 Field on Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Adelphi struck first with a goal off a corner kick, bent in by Madison Apicella 14 minutes into the action. After the Panthers set the pace, the Hounds responded well and kept up with equal pressure. Heading into halftime down 1-0, Assumption looked to up their shot total in the final 45.
The Greyhounds responded just after halftime with
Delaney Farinha's equalizer 46 seconds in. For the next fifteen minutes of play, the players and spectators were on upset watch. Adelphi regained control with goals from Gia Mandile in the 65th minute and Kayleigh Goodrich at 74:28 to secure the 3-1 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Adelphi outshot Assumption 27-14, with a 13-5 edge in the first half.
- Greyhounds goalkeeper Frida Larsson made ten saves.
- Delaney Farinha's goal was Hound's lone score, her first since September 15 and fourth of the season.
