Women's Basketball picks up 64-50 NE10 road win at Adelphi

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Tuesday evening, the Assumption University women's basketball team traveled to Long Island and defeated Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference action.

THE BASICS

Score: Assumption University 64, Adelphi University 50

Records: Greyhounds (12-3, 7-3 NE10), Panthers (4-12, 2-8 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Assumption started fast, as Kaijhe Hall found Emma Dahl, who buried the game's first basket from long range. The Adelphi tried to make the Greyhounds uneasy by establishing a full-court press, which led to five Assumption turnovers in the opening ten minutes, but the Greyhounds would break the press and take a 17-12 lead into the second.

The Hounds started to see the shots fall in the second quarter, as they went 7-for-15 from the field while holding the Panthers to just one point for the first 4:31 of the quarter. The two teams would trade buckets down the stretch, and Assumption would carry a 34-23 lead into the break.

Coming out of the intermission, the Greyhounds started to pull away as they outscored Adelphi 15-6 in the first five minutes, with Molly Stokes pouring in eight and Kaijhe Hall adding seven. From that point on, the scoring slowed, as Assumption went 3-of-5 from the field to head into the final ten minutes up 57-35.

The two teams would play out the stretch in the fourth, with the Greyhounds' lead growing to 26 points (61-35), but the Panthers would end the game on a 15-3 run.
