SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The No. 16 Assumption University women's lacrosse team used a fast start to propel past American International College 17-6 in Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Olivia Catanzarite started the game early, as she scored the opening goal 59 seconds into the contest. The flood gates would open up for the Greyhounds, as
Jenna Joseph,
Mallory Bartlett, Isabella Edwards, and
Grace Chicko scored in the opening 15 minutes. Jordyn Galgay registered the lone goal for the hosts in the first quarter, as she beat the Assumption netminder with 4:12 on the clock.
The Blue and White continued to apply the pressure on the offensive end, as
Molly Weiand, Catanzarite, and Katelynn Johnson all scored in the opening three minutes to go up 8-1. Chicko, Bartlett, and Joseph each recorded their second of the game to force the clock to run. Just before the five-minute marker of the second quarter, the Yellow Jackets would halt the 7-0 run by the Greyhounds to stop the running clock.
In the second half the two teams would trade baskets, as Weiand recorded a pair, while Edwards, Johnson, and
Chloe Scornavacca had one tally.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Skylar Troyan and Healey Torres combined to record nine for Assumption.
- Jenna Joseph led all scorers with three assists and five points, while Grace Chicko tallied two scores and two assists.
- The Greyhounds outshot the Yellow Jackets 42-22, while the Greyhounds won the ground ball battle 14-8.
- Assumption now leads the all-time series 20-7, as they have won the last six meetings.
