WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University women's lacrosse team opened up Northeast-10 Conference play with a 15-2 win over Saint Michael's College Saturday afternoon at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption was fast out of the gates, as
Ella Tenney,
Molly Weiand, and
Jenna Joseph each scored in the opening five minutes of action.
Olivia Catanzarite capped off the opening quarter with a goal with 4.5 seconds showing on the clock. The Greyhounds continued to pull away with goals from Catanzarite,
Isabelle Edwards, and Tenney. The Purple Knights got on the board right before halftime, as Darby Rich found the back of the cage.
The Greyhounds extended to 9-1 following a
Mallory Bartlett goal at the 13:26 mark of the third quarter. The Blue and White lead would balloon to 12-1 following strikes from Joseph and
Grace Chicko. Joseph opened the fourth with her fourth goal of the year before Peyton Edwards notched the second Saint Michael's goal before
Caroline O'Connell, and
Claire Desilva pushed the Assumption lead to 15-2.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Skylar Troyan and Healey Torres combined to record seven saves in the crease for Assumption.
- The Greyhounds outshot the opposition 34-15 while going 17-of-17 on clear attempts, while SMC was 12-for-15.
- AU now leads the all-time series 15-12, as they have won the last 12 meetings.
