WORCESTER, Mass. – Led by Isiah Gaiter's 22-point, 14-rebound double-double, the Assumption University men's basketball recorded a 65-50 Northeast-10 Conference win over American International College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption came out flying, as Cooper Creek led the way with five in the opening minutes to force an early timeout from AIC at the 17:40 mark. Creek continued to let them fly, as he drilled his third three-pointer just six minutes in to give Assumption a double-digit lead for the first time. The Greyhounds started to go cold, going over four minutes of action without any points before Njavan Stewart broke that streak with a free throw at 10:10. AIC continued to play from behind, getting it down to one possession on multiple occasions. Back-to-back Jacob Gibbons baskets off the bench increased the lead up to 11, its highest on the night. The Yellow Jackets could not get back into the game, especially from beyond the arc, as they failed to make one three-pointer on 11 attempts. Isiah Gaiter put an exclamation point on the half, as his buzzer-beating transition layup gave himself a first-half double-double (14 points, ten rebounds) and the Greyhounds a 15-point lead heading into halftime. 
 
Things continued to move in the right direction as Stewart nailed his first field goal of the game immediately after the restart. They continued to pull away, as two Gaiter free throws at 16:10 put Assumption up 47-24. Throughout 7:38 minutes of action in the second half, the Yellow Jackets were shooting 28.6 percent from the field and 0/13 from beyond the arc. Assumption was able to get some subs in the rest of the way, and they hung on for a 65-50 win, their fourth in their last five.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Isiah Gaiter led all scorers with 22 points while adding 14 points for his fifth career double-double.
• Cooper Creek also registered double-digit points with 11, while Kani Glover and Cal Connelly each recorded four assists. Daouda Dembele recorded four points and seven rebounds.
• Assumption outrebounded AIC 46-28, while both teams scored 38 points in the paint.
