Records: Greyhounds (7-2, 2-2 NE10), Lions (0-9, 0-1 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
After opening the game on an administrative free throw, Assumption came out a bit sloppy with the turnovers but still opened with a 7-2 lead through an Amanda Mieczkowski jumper. At the first timeout from the Lions, the Hounds were leading 11-4, with Kaijhe Hall leading with four. The Lions sprung out of the break quickly with four points, forcing Kerry Phayre and the Hounds into their first timeout. Assumption closed the quarter, shooting 8-of-11 from the field to lead 19-12.

The Greyhounds put it together in the second, pulling off a 16-0 run to begin the quarter. Curran's three-point jumper extended the lead to 38-14 at 4:38 remaining in the half. After the run, the Lions added nine points before the break, while Assumption took a 42-23 lead into halftime. Molly Stokes led the way for the visitors with 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field.

Assumption used their transition play to continue building on their lead, as Stokes converted the three-point play after being fouled on a transition layup. With 6:15 left in the third, the Hounds led the Lions 49-27. The Hound's turnovers prevented them from completely pulling away from Georgian Court, as they maintained a 26-point lead with Stokes nailing a jumper from midrange with 2:12 remaining in the third. With ten minutes left to play, Assumption led 56-30.

The Blue and White pulled away in the fourth, opening up on a 12-2 run to lead to a timeout, Assumption up 66-32. The Hounds' defense stepped up massively in the second half, as they continued to hold the Lions to tough shots and defended the perimeter extremely well. Down the stretch, Georgian Court went on a 13-3 run to close a bit of the gap. However, the lead was too large to overcome. The final score ended with Assumption winning 73-47, improving to 7-2 on the young season.
