HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saturday afternoon contest between the Greyhounds and Setters was neck and neck during the beginning of the first half. Assumption had an early chance as Ashley Wenzel's shot ricocheted off the crossbar in the opening minutes. Following the shot by Wenzel, Pace attempted three shots of their own. Haleigh Ward had an excellent opportunity three minutes later. Ward was left one-on-one with the Setters' goalkeeper, although Anna Fiore saved Ward's attempt. The match was tightly fought, with each side failing to concede a score, and at 21:29, Pace opened the scoring as Alyssa Cabral scored on Allison Carr's corner kick. Just 40 seconds later, Hanna Rautenstrauch scored from point-blank range, following another corner kick from Pace, as the Setters took a commanding lead. The Hounds struggled to acquire another quality look against the Setters' defense. Assumption was outshot 10-7 as Pace carried a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Pace poured on another goal in under a minute of second-half action. Allison Carr increased the Setters' lead to three scores. However, Assumption refused to quit. Shannon Fitzsimmons passed into the box, leading to a Haley Brown header to get the Greyhounds on the scoreboard. The momentum swayed in the direction of the Hounds. Eight minutes later, Ashley Wenzel played a through ball to Haleigh Ward. Ward chipped a shot over the goalkeeper, reducing the Pace lead to one score. In the 79th minute, Delaney Farinha crossed into the box, finding Ward as she buried a shot in the back of the net to even the score. Despite the resilient comeback by the Hounds, the contest resulted in a 3-3 draw.
