MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior Cara McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) and sophomore Caitlin Sze (South Windsor, Conn.) clinched the doubles point and then won their singles matches to help lift the Assumption University women's tennis team to a 4-3 victory over Saint Anselm in its first match of the spring on Sunday afternoon.

After dropping the No. 3 doubles, the Greyhounds took No. 2 doubles and then earned the team's first point by having McCormack and Sze win the top doubles spot by a close score of 8-6 and give the Greyhounds momentum.

Assumption then clinched the match by winning the first three singles points from the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 positions. Sze defeated Olivia Parzick at No. 2 by scores of 6-2 and 7-5 before McCormack sealed the victory by taking down her opponent from the No. 1 singles spot by marks of 7-5 and 6-3.

Junior Aimee Figgins (Milford, Mass.) was also a double winner for the Greyhounds. She first teamed up with sophomore Jessica Crosby (Westfield, Mass.) to post a convincing 8-1 No. 2 doubles win before defeating Julia Svor at No. 3 singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-0.
