SPARKILL, N.Y. – Despite a double-double from Isiah Gaiter, the Assumption University men's basketball team dropped their third straight contest, as they fell to Saint Thomas Aquinas College 72-58, Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Cooper Creek got the Greyhounds on the board first, as Creek's long-range attempt went in on the game's first shot. The two teams traded baskets for most of the opening half. Still, Assumption would take their largest lead following a Brian Stevens layup (17-11, 7:04). Saint Thomas Aquinas refused to go away as they continued to chip away at the deficit. The Spartans took their first lead of the contest with 32 seconds showing on the clock, as Antonio Vendola hit a three (23-22) before the half.
 
The Spartans carried a one-point advantage into the second half, increasing their lead to nine points (43-34, 10:45), but Assumption would not go quietly. The Greyhounds would eventually retake the lead following an Isiah Gaiter three-ball (47-45, 7:00), but that was short-lived, as STAC went down the court and hit a three-pointer of their own. From there, it was all Saint Thomas Aquinas, as the hosts outscored the visitors 24-10 to pull away for a 72-58 final score.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Isiah Gaitor led the way for Assumption with 14 points, while Kani Glover added double-digit points with 11
• The Spartans capitalized on 24 Greyhound turnovers with 24 points, while AU scored eight points off 12 STAC errors.
• Assumption outrebounded the hosts by a 39-32 margin.
