HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption set the tone for the afternoon in the first quarter, as the Greyhounds scored in the opening and closing minutes of the period to take an early 2-0 lead.
Assumption came storming right out of the gates, wasting no time getting on the scoreboard when Kaeller assisted a ball into senior Lili Daly, who scored what ended up being the game-winner only 47 seconds into the contest.
Then, coincidentally, with just 50 seconds remaining in the opening quarter, freshman
Elle Murray passed a lovely ball to
Lucy Malia who was wide open by the near post. The graduate student smacked the ball into the back of the net, doubling the Greyhounds lead after one quarter.
A third goal would materialize halfway through the second quarter as Kaeller was repaid for her earlier assist with an assist from senior
Christina Leonard for Kaeller's first goal of the game and third of the season.
The Greyhounds put two more tallies on the board in the third period putting the game out of reach, starting with Daly's second off of a sophomore
Mia Salah assist.
Kaeller would score again less than three minutes later from a senior
Liz Zenevitch assist.
Senior goalkeeper
Kathleen Smiley relieved
Kylie Gargiulo in the third period and recorded three saves in the process.
