-The Lead: The Assumption University women's tennis team fell to the Skyhawks of Stonehill College in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up on Wednesday afternoon. The Skyhawks did not drop a set on the way to a 7-0 finish over the Hounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Assumption senior, Julia Chappell (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) and first year Caitlin Sze (South Windsor, Conn. / South Windsor) battled in a setback with Stonehill sophomores Cristina Solorzano Valencia and Steffi Antao, 6-3. The Skyhawks also took a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles as sophomores Cara McCormack (Worcester, Mass. / Doherty Memorial) and Aimee Figgins (Milford, Mass. / Hopedale J.r/Sr. High School) were outlasted by senior Isabelle Porter and junior Samantha Ormesher. 

-Valencia snagged No. 1 singles from Chappell in a close two sets, 6-3 and 7-5. Sze put up a point in her match-up with Antao, but ultimately fell in two sets, 6-1 and 6-0. McCormack put up a fight at No. 3 singles as Porter claimed the win in two, 6-3 and 6-2. Figgins fell to junior Emma Markaryan at No. 4 singles, 6-1 and 6-1 and first year Jessica Crosby (Westfield, Mass. / St. Mary's) was shut out at No. 6 singles by Stonehill's Ormesher.
