-The Lead: SNHU sophomore Magdalena Hubickova clinched the match with a 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles over senior Julia Chappell (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central). SNHU improved to a 3-0 record with the 7-0 triumph over the Greyhounds on Saturday afternoon at the Penmen Stadium Tennis Courts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Hubickova avenged one of her two conference losses from a year ago, as she toppled former NE10 Player of the Year Chappell, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 1 singles. Hubickova also combined with junior Alexxa Etienne for a 6-1 victory against Chappell and first year Caitlin Sze (South Windsor, Conn. / South Windsor) at No. 1 doubles.
-Etienne took down Sze at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 7-5.
-Sophomore Isabella Andrade had her closest call yet in NE10 play, but pulled out a 7-6 (9-7), 6-4 win at No. 3 singles versus Assumption sophomore Cara McCormack (Worcester, Mass.). She also teammed up with junior Elizabeth Dwyer to edge McCormack and senior Valeria Sanchez (Carolina, P.R. / Colegio La Piedad), 7-6 (8-6).
-Sophomore Mina Houge defeated sophomore Aimee Figgins (Milford, Mass. / Hopedale Jr./Sr. High School), 6-3, 6-2, at No. 4 singles. Houge also clinched the doubles point at No. 3 with freshman Madison Blazejowski, beating Figgins and first year Jessica Crosby (Westfield, Mass. / St. Mary's), 6-2.
-Dwyer was a 7-6, 6-0 winner at No. 5 singles against Sanchez.
-Blazejowski rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 victory over Crosby at No. 6.
