-The Lead: The Assumption University Women's soccer team continued their 2021 season on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup with the Mavericks of Mercy College. The game was a tightly contested defensive matchup with both teams wearing out each others defense. Both goalies were kept busy and played strong in goal. The tie was the Hounds third straight.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Mercy dominated the offensive chances over the course of the game getting plenty of good looks on net but couldn't finish their chances.

-The Mavericks kept the pressure on in the second half registering five shots on net forcing freshman goalie Julia Walsh (San Diego, Calif.) to be on top of her game making five saves throughout the game.

-Both teams registered three shots in double overtime with one each on net. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

-The Mavericks won five corners on the day while the Hounds took three. 

-Mercy registered 14 shots on net with five on goal while Assumption attemped six shots with three on goal.
