THE BASICS:

- The Lead: The Hounds end their season with three hard fought sets against Franklin Pierce on the road but come up short 3-0 to the Ravens.    

HOW IT HAPPENED

- The Hounds jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the first set before the Ravens answered with three-straight points themselves to lessen the lead to two (8-6). Assumption won the serve back to gain a three-point lead (9-6) before Franklin Pierce strung together three more points to tie the set at nine apiece. The set was tied at ten, eleven and twelve before the Ravens took control with five consecutive points to take a four-point lead (16-12). After two more three-point spurts, the Ravens took the set 25-19.

- The Ravens kept their momentum to score the first two points of the second set before the Hounds rallied for three-points and to take a 4-3 lead. The set was then tied at four and five before Franklin Pierce scored three consecutive points to take an 8-5 lead and later advanced their lead to four (10-6) forcing the Hounds to take a timeout. After the timeout, the Hounds rallied for four-straight points to get within one of the Ravens (11-10). Franklin Pierce maintained their lead with two points themselves followed by two four-point rallies to take the set 25-17.

- The third set was tied three different times before Franklin Pierce took control with four unanswered points for a five-point lead (12-7) to force Assumption into a timeout. The Ravens kept control after the timeout with four more points before the Hounds collected themselves and scored five-straight to get within three (16-13) and forcing the Ravens to take a timeout. The two teams traded points before the Ravens scored three consecutive points followed by two sets of two-points for a 25-15 set victory and a 3-0 match win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Alana Hruska (Marlborough, Conn./RHAM) led the Hounds with ten kills while Tess Haller (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) recorded eight.

- Danielle Zarcone (Hauppauge, N.Y./Smithtown High School East) earned her second career double-double with 22 assists and 11 digs while Alexandra Krawczyk (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) also earned 11 digs in the match.
