- The Lead: The Assumption College men's tennis team was unable to take a point from Adelphi, as they fell 9-0 to the Panthers to open NE10 Conference play on Tuesday afternoon in New York.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In doubles play, junior Danny Waung (Bolton, Conn. / East Catholic) and freshman Max Francis (West Barnstable, Mass. / Barnstable) battled at No. 2 doubles but ultimatley lost 8-6. The No. 1 duo of Ryan Foster (Bloomfield, Conn. / Classical Magnet) and Reb Mariano (New London, Conn. / Saint Andrew's School) fell 8-0, and No. 3 doubles Jameson Keppeler (Syracuse, N.Y. / CBA Syracuse) and Luke Whitehouse (Hopkinton, Mass. / Hopkinton) also dropped their set 8-1.
- Foster fell in two sets 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while Francis took Adelphi No. 2 Sabin Adrian Saveluc to three sets, but Saveluc claimed the victory. The freshman won the first set 6-1, but Saveluc took the next two 6-0, 6-4. Waung fell 6-2, 7-5 in No. 3 singles, while Mariano competed to a 7-6 loss in his first set, but was shut out 6-0 in the second set. Adelphi earned two more wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles as they won both 6-0, 6-0 to claim the match 9-0.
