THE BASICS:

-The Lead: Sophomore Ryan Foster (Bloomfield, Conn. / Classical Magnet) continued his unbeaten streak on Wednesday afternoon as the Assumption College men's tennis team fell to Adelphi on the road by a score of 8-1. With his victory, Foster is now 7-0 at No. 2 singles this season, 4-0 in the Northeast-10 Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-The Hounds entered singles competition with a 3-0 deficit after all three doubles matches were won by Adelphi. Foster and junior Chris Waung (Bolton, Conn. / East Catholic) put up the strongest showing, falling at No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-5 while the other two pairs fell by scores of 8-3 and 8-2.
-In singles competition, Foster claimed the Hounds' only victory at No. 2 singles. He dropped the first set 6-4 but came back to take set two, 6-3 before clinching the win with a 6-3, set-three win.
-All other Hounds fell in straight sets. Waung was defeated by Matteo Cannavera at No. 1, 6-3, 6-2 while junior Marco Leung (Macao / The International School of Macao) dropped the No. 3 match 6-2, 6-3.
-Freshman Reb Mariano (New London, Conn. / Saint Andrew's School) battled at No. 4 singles but ultimately fell to Roey Haymann 6-4, 6-4.
-Junior Casey Hodor (North Kingstown, R.I. / Bishop Hendricken) lost at No. 5 by a score of 6-1, 6-0 before junior Tom Knight (Wilbraham, Mass. / Minnechaug Regional) wrapped up the match with an 8-3 pro-set loss at No. 6.
UP NEXT:
-The Hounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 9 as they travel to Southern New Hampshire to continue NE-10 competition. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
