THE BASICS:

- The Lead: On Saturday afternoon at Pace Stadium, the Assumption College women's lacrosse team dropped a 17-8 final to Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Pace jumped out to the early 2-0 edge before junior Quincy Wilkins (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug) scored off an assist from freshman Sarah Reilly (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield-Warde) to cut the lead to 2-1 with 23:22 left in the first half. The Setters answered with a 6-0 run before Wilkins ended that spurt with the goal off an assist from sophomore Meghan Cushing (Gorham, Maine/Gorham). Senior Meaghan Curley (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) also scored to get the Hounds within 8-3 before the Setters eventually took a 10-3 lead into the break.

- In the second half, four different Assumption players found the back of the net, including a pair of goals late in the period from freshman Kailyn Hart (Cohoes, N.Y./Shaker).

- Junior goalie Jaclyn Chirco (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) had 14 saves in the loss, while Alissa Silvestri made nine stops to secure the victory for the Setters.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Wilkins and Hart each tallied two goals each for the Hounds, while three Setters had multiple goals as Pace was led by five goals and one assist by Abby Haimson.

- Assumption held a 14-13 advantage in draw controls, including a team-high four draws by junior Julianna Molloy (Guilford, Conn./Guilford).

- The Hounds forced 12 Pace turnovers and converted 15-of-18 clear attempts, while the Setters held a 22-15 edge in ground balls.

UP NEXT:

- Assumption is back in action on Tuesday, April 19th as the Hounds host Southern Connecticut for a 7 p.m. start at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
